My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had heard so much about this series. It was another one of those that I really wanted to get to, but just never quite found the time. Well I decided to give it a shot, I went in blind without reading reviews or the blurb. I was delightfully surprised by how good this was. I loved Rook and how for as messed up as she was she was also very strong and free willed. Given her situation it makes sense that she would want to make her own decisions and do things her way. I really loved the little family that she stumbled upon and thought the concept was pretty original for a setting compared to how similar stories have gone. I thought this book was humorous and very well written.

I LOVED watching Rook & Ronin’s relationship grow and how they interacted with one another. It was really sweet at times, and funny at others, and sometimes I wanted to punch one of them in the eye. While Rook’s back story was definitely tragic, I’m happy that this book was everything but in the end.

I only wish I would have started it sooner!
