Deacon by Kristen Ashley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kristen Ashley delivers more KA Gold and makes you want to pack your bags and move to Cabin 11 at Glacier Lily Cottages.

I have always had this problem when it comes to KA, as I am reading at 3am fully aware that I will be a zombie at work tomorrow in my mind I was packing. Packing to move to that amazing peaceful place where people are beautiful inside and out… troubled in some aspect but you can ALWAYS fix them. I was happy to receive my first ARC for this series and particularly so because I knew it was going to be KA Gold (yes that is the term for me and the way I describe all my favorites). Happily I was right with a SURPRISE present/element that KA undertook that I always wondered if she would ever do. Ooooh and she DID it! She did it GOOD!

Me needing a bit of a cool down after reading this one. Ice Bucket? Pffft bring on the HOSE!!!

But no more of Teasing… let’s book our bus/train/airline tickets/gas up our cars and meet at the beautiful Glacier Lily Cottages…

Ok… so that is pretty much all we know about our Deacon… KA Queen of making our tummies ache and making the tag I always use “Apart Too Long” well worth it. No one delivers a brooding Alpha Male quite like KA does and that is why her books are always on my re-read list. This book will be no different. Deacon is introduced to us as our Cassidy buys out a decrepit but beautiful cabins up in Colorado mountains and sets out to fix it and make it her own. For years Deacon checks in and out of those cabins as a ghost. A ghost that Cassidy can’t help but be fascinated by… and seriously who couldn’t. But even as skittish as Deacon is there is something to the minimal interactions that draws him out of this non-existance existence. After all no man is an island to himself with a goofy, beautiful, hard-working woman around.

“Why don’t you have a fuckin’ man?”

His obvious pain slicing through me, my lips moved, and when they did, they did it to whisper, “Honey.”

And then he wasn’t across the room.

He was righ there, his arms locked around me, one hand in my hair tugging back and not gently his mouth crashing down on mine.

This particular book is definitely something new by Kristen Ashely. She continues with the anti-hero, darker, edgier theme of the Unfinished Hero Series but it is also something different. The book is a bit more slow-paced and less outside drama as we usually get but I enjoyed that because the book was primarily was about the development of Cassie & Deacon’s relationship. And truly Deacon needed all that time to chip away at this hardshell of a man… revive him like Frankenstein… kiss him like the Sleeping Beauty… burst that protective bubble around him…

Also, as I have mentioned before KA does something I was very curious about but briefly mentioned but never done before sexually. That is Anal Play… now seriously KA pulled all the stops out with that and it was Maaaaaaaaarvelous… but I speak no more… you need to read and judge for yourself but…

KRISTEN ASHLEY IS OUR GODDESS… bring on more because we are Addicts!

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
