Three Christmases Synopsis:

4-ThreeXMas_CoverAs the holiday season approaches in this fourth book in the No Weddings Series, Cade Michaelson strives to be better at balancing work and love, and Hannah Martin’s growing ability to trust is put to the test.

Lust and friendship brought us together, but with the increasing demands of my two businesses, Hannah’s thriving bakery, and our successful event-planning company, stability becomes my focus.

Then a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity takes me to the West Coast, and everything goes into a tailspin.

Laughter, love, and excitement fill our lives, but Cade refuses to settle into the wonderful bliss we’ve found—he wants spectacular fireworks and an unshakable foundation. Driven like no one I’ve ever met, Cade insists a dream job across the country will be better for our future together, but I worry about whether we can survive the present apart.

When intimate time diminishes…and lives get more hectic…

Will a little bit of faith be all that it takes? Or will the sacrifice to get there be too great?

No Weddings Series Drink List

Thank you to Kris and Vik from Kris and Vik Book Therapy Cafe for hosting us today on the No Weddings Series Tour.

With Cade owning a bar, drinks feature prominently in the stories. We wanted to share the No Weddings Series Drink List along with a few of our favorite excerpts as they relate to the drinks…

~~~
Organic Margarita
Cade’s eyes darkened as he slid his gaze toward me. I shook my head, pointing at her.
His expression softened a fraction. “Okay. I know you like your drinks strong, Kiki. How about our new house margarita? You’ll like this, being such an organic naturalist. It’s made with fresh lime juice and agave nectar.”
Her eyes brightened. “Ooo, that does sound good. Is it blended?”
He scoffed. “No. And I’m not blending it. What a horrendous thing to do to a margarita. Rocks. Salt. Only way to drink it.”
Lemon Drop Martini
Screaming Orgasm
“How ’bout I give you a personal special?”
I smirked, knowing his naughty MO. “Oh, what’s that?”
His gaze intensified. “A screaming orgasm.”
I swallowed hard, tension flaring between us. “Sounds amazing. I’ll take two, please.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t let you stop at two. I’d push you to three or four.”
I gasped, a sudden ache flashing between my thighs.
He took a deep breath, pulling back. “But for now, you’ll have to settle for swallowing what I can shoot into this tiny shot glass.”
I burst out laughing.
“Quiet, woman. This’ll take concentration.” He tore his gaze away with a smirk and made our drinks.
After a few minutes of cubes clinking and alcohol pouring, he slid over our two-drink allotment: Kiki’s margaritas and my white frothy shots.
Mai Tai
Strawberry Daiquiri
Long Island Iced Tea
Hawaiian Iced Tea
She shook her head and leaned forward, grabbing the Hawaiian iced tea I’d made for her earlier. She hummed with pleasure as she took a few long pulls off her straw.
“Go easy on that, Maestro. It’s deadly if not respected.”
She grinned before sucking down one more swallow of the strong tropical drink. Then she put the glass back down. “I’ll make it last. But you should be careful giving me drinks that taste so damn good.”
Kiki nodded and held up her identical hourglass-shaped drink, as if toasting. “Right?”
Vodka Tonic
As it turned out, four drinks wasn’t Hannah’s limit. The petite girl, who’d only ever had a couple of mai tais or strawberry daiquiris, apparently had a healthy liver and an iron stomach. I patiently waited until she finished her fifth drink.
She frowned, staring at the polished wood surface of the bar. “Shouldn’t my empties be lined up so I can build an upside-down shot glass pyramid?”
“You would, if you were doing shots.”
Mint Fucking Julep
A waiter walked by with mint juleps on his tray. Mint fucking juleps. Stately columns lined the patio where we sat. Little sandwiches—food no grown man would touch unless nothing else existed—were arranged on a tower of connected silver platters.
And I thought our country club screamed pretentious old-money.
White Russian
Scotch
Champagne/Wine: Cristal, Malbec, Chardonnay, Riesling, Schloss Vollrads Eiswein
We clinked glasses, the mood intensifying between us with every pounding beat of my heart. After a deep breath and a slow exhale, I brought the dainty glass up to my lips and sipped the Eiswein. Citrusy with the mildest hint of tart apple, the wine rolled over my tongue like a delicate dessert kiss.
Cade’s gaze darkened when I licked my lips. “How does our esteemed lady-judge rate the wine?”
“Hmmm, I need another sip to know for sure.” I watched him over the glass, pressing my lips to the rim with gentle pressure, like a soft kiss. Then I opened slightly, letting the sugary liquid pass, flooding my mouth. Tipping the glass upright, I pulled away and licked my lips for him this time, with seductive intent.
He didn’t move. I’m pretty sure he didn’t breathe. Two heavy blinks were his only response. I wondered if that was Cade’s version of Morse code for “holy shit.”
Beers: Fat Tire, Konrad’s Stout
Do you have any favorite drinks, No Weddings Series or otherwise? Feel free to shout them out in the comments. Recipes welcomed.
And…as always, drink responsibly.  As Cade warns Hannah in One Funeral:
Cade extended a hand, gripping my forearm. “Be careful, okay. Never let your drink out of sight, and never accept one from anyone other than a waitress.”
I frowned. “Have you had problems?”
He gave me a serious look. “Every bar has predators no matter how many layers of security. Only you can protect yourself everywhere you go.”
Exclusive Excerpt:
“Where are you?” Cade asked.
“Your room.” After the gallery exhibit ended, I needed to be near him. But surrounded by his stuff was the closest I could get. Thank God Mase hadn’t asked when I’d shown up at their doorstep, he’d only given me an understanding look.
Cade insisted he felt better only moments ago. Then he refused to talk about his condition.
The phone was pressed to my ear, its glow, his existence, the only light in the darkness. I closed my eyes and turned slightly, pressing my nose into the pillow, inhaling deeply. Cade’s scent mixed with my heartache for him filled me with an incomparable longing. With effort, I could almost imagine him here wrapped around me. Almost.
“Where in my room?”
“Your bed.”
“I’m liking this bedtime story.” His voice deepened, turning gruff.
His primal tone sizzled an erotic charge through me and my breath caught. Then I grinned, my melancholy shattering. He did that to me. Turned me inside out on a word, a phrase, the sexy loaded undercurrent of his voice.
On a shaky exhale, I tightened my hand on the phone. The electronic tie to him was hot on my skin. He was right there with me, and at the same time, so far away. “Wish you were here. Miss you like crazy.”
“Me too, Maestro. Like you wouldn’t believe.”
“Really?” Did I voice that? My doubt about his side versus mine? “Does it hurt? Because mine does. I used to think that the good-bye was the hardest part. It’s not. Not by a long shot.”
“No,” he agreed. “It’s every moment you’re dying to share in person.”
I nodded. “The drop-ins and unexpected surprises. All the times I don’t think I’m going to see you, and then, there you are, my sexy-as-fuck dream standing in my doorway.”
A low chuckle sounded out. “Did you just call me sexy as fuck?”
My cheeks began to cramp with my huge smile. Just having him on the line was like thousand-dollar-an-hour therapy. “Maybe.”
“No, I’m definitely sure I heard it. Say it again.”
I swallowed hard and said in a low rumble, “Sexy as fuck.”
His heavy exhale sounded over the phone. “Damn, I miss you. Three more days. I will be there by Thursday night. Count on it.”
Confused about his early midweek arrival, I furrowed my brow. Then it hit me. Thursday was December 11th, my birthday. Even though I’d completely forgotten, he’d remembered. “You better. If you don’t, the rest of the CDs you abandoned here are gonna get it.”
He barked out a laugh. “What are you going to do? Take my favorites hostage?”
Alone in the dark, I narrowed my eyes, even though he couldn’t see. “Oh, no. I’m going to put your entire collection into a random shuffle.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“Try me, sexy boy. If you don’t get here on time, as promised, all this longing I feel for you will reach a breaking point. Girl needs an outlet. I’m thinking the CDs are a great start.”
He groaned. Then laughed. “Do your worst. If I am even a minute late. I’ll take my licks like a man.”
The thought of punishing him sent my mind guttering. Clearly I’d been exposed to him too long. “Oh, and how do you do it like a man?” My lips spit out the uncensored question before I could stop them.
His low growl vibrated in my ear. “Those are licks I’ll be giving you, Maestro. That’s how I do it like a man. Has it been so long that you don’t remember? I think you need intensive reeducation.”
His playfulness warmed my heart. Sparked the naughty girl inside of me to life. His naughty girl. “Maybe I do.”
He dragged his words out. “Slow, unbelievably slow. To make sure you’re paying attention.”
On a hard swallow, I buried my face into his pillow and took another deep breath. “Oh, you have my attention.”
“Teeth, dragged across skin.”
A shudder ran through me. “I like…”
“I know you do.” He paused. “Kiss after kiss, soft, teasing…”
“You’re teasing me now…”
