Synopsis:

Lives intersect only to be changed indefinitely…

Lauren
This isn’t your typical girl meets boy.
There isn’t a glass slipper or Prince Charming.
I’ve lived it and now it will be told.
Welcome to my personal hell…

Derrick
I once saved lives and now… I so easily end them.

Women are drawn to me like a moth to the flame, and like the moth not all of them continue on. Some are broken, others are damaged, and a few never make it out… but it’s their decision to live. Only they often don’t know that until it’s too late.

F*ck the rules, I create my own in a world where I have nothing left to lose. Living is a game, and I’m the reigning champion by being stronger and smarter than my prey.

This is your warning. If you radiate vulnerability… Well, you could be my next victim. Don’t try to hide. I’m not easily eluded.

Abbot
It started with me and now it will end with me.
Some people call me an uncontrollable killing monster. I f*cking laugh at the mention of the word.
Monsters have no control.
I’ve got plenty.
I don’t kill without reason. I don’t kill the innocent.
I hunt the ones that deserve it, the real monsters, the ones without regret or a soul.

I have been in the mood for something dark and gritty lately (I know how holiday cheer of me) and when I was given an ARC of Eluded, by Lyra Parish it was a Christmas wish come true. I really enjoyed this story of a dark damaged hero and a devil of a man he was after. This story was about kidnapping beautiful American women who visiting London. They take the women, and ask for a high random from their fathers, husband, lovers ect. During this time anything goes. The women are beaten, abused, hurt, and wronged in countless other ways.

Our dark hero (Abbot) knows what Derrick (devil man) MO is and w ho type of girl he likes to take. When Abbot sees Lauren (our beauty from the US of A) he knows that she will be targeted and taken by the black van who stalks the tourist streets of London. He comes up with a plan to help her before she is taken, however he is too late and before he can put his own plans in action, she is snatched up. During Laurens time with Derrick she has a cell mate who helps her learn how to stay alive and deal with Derrick’s evil advances. The two of them work together to stay alive and keep their sanity during their horrific stay with the devil.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this tale of courage, honor and righting the wrongs that were done to the innocent victims. I won’t go into much more, but there is a twist at the end that leaves you shouting “YES!!” from the rooftops. While I enjoyed the story, characters, and plot twists there was one thing about the book that did bug me a little. I wish there was more intimacy between the two main characters, Abbot and Lauren. During the story you know that Abbot and Lauren have a spark between them, yet you don’t get any action till almost the end of the book between these two. However, you get TONS of sex between the monster and Lauren. I just felt that all the sex with Derrick and the girls made me feel icky and guilty for thinking it was hot at times. And the one person I kept yelling at my kindle for her to get with, it takes them forever. And I may be playing my whore card here, but I was craven some hot, dirty, rough, hard loven between those two, and didn’t. I dunno, maybe the author had reasons for this that I didn’t understand or get. Regardless of my inner slut not getting her way (hehe) I was caught up in the action and plot from the start of this dark read.
