Jake Harrison is everything that Haven Daniels hates about men: over-confident, born into money and too handsome for his own good. Haven finds it difficult to keep her opinions to herself and can’t help but tell Jake exactly what she thinks of him, again and again.

Haven Daniels is uptight, smart and a bit of a bitch – the perfect challenge for Jake. It doesn’t hurt that she’s movie star beautiful and doesn’t seem to realise.

Forced to work together, verbal sparring turns into sexual chemistry but men like Jake are trouble and Haven has had enough trouble to last her a lifetime.

Will Haven give into Jake’s charm? Can Jake peel off Haven’s petulant mask, revealing the woman he knows lies beneath?

This story starts off with Haven meeting her new co-worker and all around heart throb, Jake “Harry” Harrison.  Harry is an American who is living in London with a sister as he tries to get his energy company off the ground and running.  But he is always up for helping his fellow friend as a fill in photographer at the local glam magazine company where he meets the tight hair bun wearing, Haven.

When these two first meet it doesn’t go over very well.  In fact it ends with both of them screaming mad and Haven buying Harry an apology coffee in order to smooth things over.  However, once Harry figures out what kind of women Haven is and proceeds to call her out on her bullsh*t, a friendship builds between the two that leads to witty banter, wicked kisses, and scorching nights.

This is a short novella that leaves quite an impression.  The characters are lovable,  Harry/Jake is so freaking sexy it’s just too much at times.  Haven is very relatable and I found myself in her shoes a time a two in my life.  I highly recommended this series to anyone looking for a quick getaway.

Haven had thought she was wrong about Jake, but apparently she should have trusted her instincts. He wasn’t the man she thought he was. The chink that Jake managed to put in her armor has healed over. She’s shut down and as far as she’s concerned, it’s all business between them from now on.

Thrown together on another assignment, anger, frustration and jealousy are at the forefront of Jake’s emotions. Will Jake convince Haven that he really cares or will he let her go as she insists he must?

What the Lighting Sees – Part Two – is the second part in a three part novella series.

Part two picks up right where we left off in part one. Haven  is miserable and so is Jake.  Haven’s inner demons have come out to play and have her second guessing everything.  Jake is upset and left licking his wounds while away on business.  After multiple attempts to get Haven to talk to him he gives her the space she asked for,  even if it kills him to do it.

As fate would have it they are assigned another story for the magazine and let’s just say, the new assignment has Jakes inner green eyed monster coming out.  Throughout the assignment Jake must watch Haven go on a date after date till he finaly just loses it and rectifies the situation.

Book two ends in a classic WTF moment and I freaking ate it up with a spoon.  Can’t wait to see what the lightening sees next…

Jake and Haven have finally found a way to be together. Haven realized that she is ready to trust Jake and wants to open up to him. For Jake, Haven isn’t an option, she’s not just another girl, she’s his future. He’s certain of that, or he was.
Jake has been delivered life-changing news that he is yet to share with Haven. Will he confide in Haven and if he does, is their bond strong enough to withstand the bombshell?

Oh man I’m so sorry to see this series end. Part three picks up right where we left off in part two (thank God). Let me just tell you girlfriend… I had to pick my jaw up off the floor at the news Jake received before his flight at the end of Part two . Without giving too much away all I can really say is that B got what she deserved,  karma always evens the playing ground. I was so pissed that she had the nerve to pull such a stunt.

This series was exactly what I needed. There was no extra fluff or long-winded descriptions of what color the trees were in the moonlight or how many different streaks of color the Sun light caught in the heroines hair.  Now now put down the pitchforks ladies I love a detailed book as much as the next Jo Shmo but I think we all have to agree that’s some books just don’t need all that, and this was definitely one of those books.

I’m very happy with the way this book/series ended I look forward to diving into more adventures by the witty and also delightfully charming Louise Bay. I recommend this series to anyone looking for a good time and enjoyable read. Fair warning the things Jake does to Haven are so wickedly delicious that you may need a spare pair of panties or as the London’s say some extra knickers.

About Author

USA Today Bestselling Author Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books Faithful and Hopeful are stand-alone novels although there are some overlapping characters. Bestselling The Empire State Series of novellas starts with A Week in New York. My next series is What the Lightning Sees.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.

Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!
