In Unlovable we are introduced to Dr. Matilda Schmidt. A 30 something single psychologist who some how is still a virgin. I know what you are thinking usually when somehow the main character is a virgin at an older age it just feels fake and unbelievable. I promise that the way that Cynthia St. Aubin writes her though it makes sense. As the stories go on and build you learn more about her past and what she had to deal with growing up and how losing ones virginity can become a back burner item for the doctor. In this first book we are introduced to Crixus and Liam. Are hot demigod and hot hitman. The banter the back and forth the alpha peeing contests that ensue are wonderful through out the series. In this installment Dr. Schmidt has to help Cupid or the world is in danger of having no one else fall in love and get married. Be prepared to laugh your butt off and fall for the doctor in this book. I listened to the audio books for this series which was narrated by Hollie Jackson I give her performance 5 Coffee Beans on it’s own!!! She did a wonderful job of voicing the many – many characters that come along and I didn’t find myself confused as to who was talking even as we started to build in the double digits of characters that she had to voice.

Unlucky picks up where Unlovable left off. Dr. Schmidt has navigated her first paranormal case which involved not just her counseling skills but detective work as well. In Unlucky she has a new client, a leprechaun. She also has new dangers on her plate. Crixus and Liam are in this as well and we meet a group of absolutely HILARIOUS characters that enjoy taking nut shots! Buckle up and fall deeper in love with the doctor in this installment.

In Unhoppy as you can probably guess by the other characters we are going to be meeting the Easter Bunny. He is Dr. Schmidt’s newest client and he is a doll, a very sick and fragile doll. Matilda finds herself in a world of trouble in this one and she needs the help of Crixus and Liam to help herself get out of the trouble that her vagina of all things gets her in. This one like the others will have you laughing hysterically but it will also pull on your heart strings.

In this installment the doctor has a very interesting new client who also will serve as her bodyguard when a threat continues to pursue her. Be prepared to meet the three bears and Goldilocks in this one. It was funny and at times made you cringe. You also begin to wonder here what’s really up with the doctor and Liam and Crixus. You might find yourself starting to feel conflicted as to who you want the good doctor to end up with.

In the fifth installment the doctor takes a much deserved vacation. Unfortunately, she meets one of her most difficult cases yet and discovers new things about herself that make her question her past as well as her future. Crixus and Liam make their appearances. There are some smoking hot sexy times and of course lots of really good laughs and new characters.

In the 6th installment we start to learn a great deal more about Matilda and her past. Especially those in her past that mean a great deal to her. There is still an imminent threat after Matilda and we aren’t quite sure where it is coming from yet or why in this book. There are major changes in the doctors relationships with both Crixus and Liam in this book and you may find yourself feeling all kinds of things towards the three characters and their actions in this one. It takes place around Halloween so be prepared for Vampires, Werewolves, and even a visit to the Underworld to take place in this crazy ride.

Unexpecting is the 7th installment and a wonderful conclusion to the series. Make no mistake you will want more and I would love to tell you more about this particular book but if you have yet to read the series there really isn’t much that I can say that wouldn’t be a spoiler. As you can tell from the title and cover of the book things have really changed for Matilda. We finally get a resolution to the main threat that has been chasing her through out the series and get the MAJOR question of who she will choose answered in this installment. So if you haven’t started yet get the complete series today. I promise you won’t regret it!!!

Quote Love: “For the first time in my whole life she was… bigger than me, more solid than I was. Before you came along, I was the biggest thing in my universe. The one that everyone leaned on depended on came to for help. Before you I was lonely and empty and terrified of everything.”

ABOUT ME

I like gravy.

This has nothing to do with the rest of my bio, but I thought you ought to know.

About the writing thing…

I wrote my first play when I was six and made my brothers perform it for my parents. I charged gum wrappers for admission (a steal, in my opinion, considering I had handed out the gum wrappers ahead of time). While I seriously doubt you’ll be seeing any of my formative work on Broadway anytime soon, I can credit these early experiments with the first of many important lessons I learned about writing: no matter how brilliant your manuscript is, some kid can go streaking butt-ass nekkid across the living room, and totally undermine your vision.

Everyone watches the naked kid because running across the living room with your cheeks flapping in the breeze is friggin’ hilarious.

Cue the lightbulb moment. People like funny stuff!

I never quite gave up on the writing thing, even as I tried my hand at being a dusty academic turned Executive Assistant (they paid me to nag! How cool is that?), but in those quiet moments when expense reports had been filed and to-do items checked off, the funny people in my head kept talking to me.

Yes, I know they have medication for that. It’s called vodka.

Since they discourage drinking at work, I started writing instead. What came out was an amalgamation (vocabulary!) of all the things I love: funny stuff, art, psychology, food, people, and paranormal critters!

Et voila! The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist were born.

When I’m not sitting in my office watching cat videos and pretending to write, I like cooking, knitting (badly), and reading anything that makes me laugh (like my bank statements).

I live in Colorado with my brilliant husband and three surly cats.
