THE CASTLE by SKYE WARREN IS NOW LIVE!
The trilogy is now complete! #OneClick now!
I’m safe in the ivory tower Gabriel Miller made for me. That’s what he says. Enemies lurk outside, waiting to strike. An army of enemies held back by these walls.
Except some animal instinct warns me the danger is much closer. It’s already here. Is Gabriel Miller my protector or my enemy? Is this house a castle or a cage?
There’s nowhere for me to go, no one left for me to trust.
No escape from a past determined to capture its prize.
Hm… wow what a conclusion to the messed up journey of Gabriel and his Little Virgin. Although I feel like the story has always been about Avery. Over the course of the Trilogy we got to see her grow from meek and somewhat spoiled rich girl we find in The Pawn to the Queen in The Castle.
I don’t doubt that you could captivate any man you set your mind to.
You captivated me before you even knew I existed.
You’re my queen.
There is much that unravels in the conclusion. Secrets that I should expect considering this is not my first read of Skye Warren’s work and yet they completely floored me.
Her relationship with Gabriel grows and matures as she grows more comfortable within his world, slowly adjusting that in the end, it is her world as well. Girlfriends has a real hard time letting go that she will not be 100% innocent college girl again. I can’t even blame her. She was screwed so much by the adults in her life, to the extent that she doesn’t even realize until that floodgate opens and all the nasty pours out leaving her to deal with it. Thankfully she doesn’t have to take on that burden onto herself… aaaah Gabriel. You were VERY much puzzling to me. There is much you do in the book that confuses me and trying to understand your background story gives a bit of clarity to your actions.
Gabriel loves to rip them off me, to literally rip the fabric with his bare hands. He ruins them with a ferocity I feel in my core, as if my flesh is made of satin, as if he’s tearing me apart.
I’ve grown addicted to ruin
However, I did find some plot holes and unanswered questions that left me much frustrated and scratching my head. I’m assuming because there is a spin-off in the works for Damon Scott, ‘friend’ to the couple and underground shady person in charge of selling flesh (which I’m assuming is just a scratch of the surface profession he holds), and a mysterious broken bird person we get introduced to in this book in the 11th hour.
I’m a glutton for punishment but there are a few characters who I want to see more like the underground doctor to the Den – Anders. There is more to him, right?
Overall I am sad to say good-bye to this couple but their story has its twisty dark HEA to it and I’m ok with it.
