LET’S TRY SOMETHING NEW THIS WEEK…

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words.

What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?  So each week I will pull a book from my book library or Kindle mega library. There are some fantastic and diverse blogs & readers who are already participating and you can find them everywhere (FB, IG, Twitter) with a hashtag #firstlinesfridays. If you want to join in the fun of First Lines Fridays please post a photo using the same hashtag so we can all find each other.

How does it work?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

HEEEEERE we go!

FIRST LINES FRIDAYS - The Raven by Sylvain Reynard

This book (and series) is a spin off from the not so paranormal Gabriel’s Inferno Series. Professor Emerson will always be in my heart, however, I can always squeeze in the enigma that is William.

My goal in life is to meet the man behind all these books! Who is Sylvain Reynard? Who is the person behind so many uplifting Twitter Tweets that are always worthy of a retweet?

Blurb v2

Raven Wood spends her days at Florence’s Uffizi gallery restoring Renaissance art. But an innocent walk home after an evening with friends changes her life forever. When she intervenes in the senseless beating of a homeless man, his attackers turn on her, dragging her into an alley. Raven is only semiconscious when their assault is interrupted by a cacophony of growls followed by her attackers’ screams. Mercifully, she blacks out, but not before catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure who whispers to her . . .

Cassita vulneratus.

When Raven awakes, she is inexplicably changed. Upon returning to the Uffizi, no one recognizes her. More disturbingly, she discovers that she’s been absent an entire week. With no recollection of her disappearance, Raven learns that her absence coincides with one of the largest robberies in Uffizi history–the theft of a set of priceless Botticelli illustrations. When the police identify her as their prime suspect, Raven is desperate to clear her name. She seeks out one of Florence’s wealthiest and most elusive men in an attempt to uncover the truth. Their encounter leads Raven to a dark underworld whose inhabitants kill to keep their secrets . . .

  1. I love those tweets from this author. Sounds like she is pretty insightful. I have been nervous about these books, because the super hyped books don’t usually work for me. But now you have me wanting to look into this author.

Oh I know exactly what you mean. Forget the hype just pick it up. If it’s not your thing, no harm done.
