My entire life can be summed up in one sentence:
“Well, that didn’t go as planned.”
—T-Shirt

A typical day in the life of Charley Davidson involves cheating husbands, errant wives, missing people, philandering business owners, and, oh yeah…demons, hell hounds, evil gods, and dead people. Lots and lots of dead people. As a part time Private Investigator and full-time Grim Reaper, Charley has to balance the good, the bad, the undead, and those who want her dead.

Now, Charley is learning to make peace with the fact that she is a goddess with all kinds of power and that her own daughter has been born to save the world from total destruction. But the forces of hell are determined to see Charley banished forever to the darkest corners of another dimension. With the son of Satan himself as her husband and world-rocking lover, will Charley be able to defeat the ultimate evil and find a way to have her happily ever after after all?

I don’t even know how to review this series because there is just so much that happens. It is also impossible to write a spoiler review because THERE IS SO MUCH THAT HAPPENS. Darynda is a master at her craft of developing such wonderful plot while juggling character development and making it an exciting and hilarious read. If you are stumbling upon this review and never read a book then you must go all the way to the beginning because this a seriously powerful connected series.

We get so much of Reyes and Charley interaction as Reyes is finally trying to get Charlie at her god-level abilities skills. About time really because there is so much one can rely on pure luck and perfect timing. She is a walking catastrophe. It seems like everyone knows how powerful she is EXCEPT Charley. Like seriously the baddies go on these super long spiels about how mighty she is. So I always wonder if her capabilities of getting out of trouble really second nature to who she really is OR like I mentioned before – pure dumb luck.

The ending as always ends with a huge WOW moment. Moooore revelations… I feel like it is the emphasis of every review I have written for this series. But let’s get real. IT’S TRUE!!!
