Oooh Laaaawd my book world is shook by this new to me author’s release. Honestly I don’t know what pulled me to this book (could have been the cover to be honest *drool*) but I’m so glad I followed my instinct. If this prequel to the American Gods series is a small indication of what is to be expected then SIGN ME UP FOR ALL THE BOOKS.
While the story focus on elite college group of people, this story takes place during summer break at a super fancy retreat for the elite. We meet Juliette Monroe who is a poor girl who works so hard to put herself through Yale, such as being a maid at this super fancy retreat for the elite. She is a true inspiration for a goal oriented women who do not sway from the end goal. Unfortunately, Juliette has a bit of a vulnerability which is a shame for her circumstances aka not being a rich girl. This becomes an easy vulnerability for rich boy Yale legacy, Nathaniel Radcliffe, to exploit to get her in bed with him… all summer long.
Their summer insta love and passion gives way to a lasting HEA. And that ending gave me such swoony feelings.
The book sets up the series by introducing us to the wicked, powerful, and if I read it correctly slightly dented if not wholly broken men waiting for their redemption. So in short – power, secrets, and lots of draaaaaama!
