When Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of a prestigious art gallery in Los Angeles, takes her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band, she does so reluctantly and at her ex-husband’s request. The last thing she expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.

What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s disparate worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways. And for Solène, it is as much a reclaiming of self, as it is a rediscovery of happiness and love. When their romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her new status has impacted not only her life, but the lives of those closest to her.

Yes, I have been gone for a minute. I’ve been around but have not had time to review many books. This one was so good that I felt the need to make the time to write even a brief review. If you are ever curious about what Kris and Vik may be reading but have not had time to review please check out our Bean Rating of All the Books We Read as we try to update it often. Now on to the good stuff.

I listened to this book as an audio book. It was narrated by Robinne Lee the author and she surprisingly is very good with doing various accents. She performed this book with all of the laughing the lust the love the anger and the sadness that was spilling out of her pages at an expert level. If you are not into audio books and were thinking about listening to one I would highly suggest that this be your first.

The story itself is about a divorced mother who co-owns an art gallery. She is an artist herself and has been just getting by honestly since her divorce and not really living her life. She meets Hayes when she takes her daughter to a meet and greet and concert. She does not think that much of anything will come of it and at first won’t even allow herself to explore a casual interlude with the young singer. Eventually of course this begins to change and they both quickly find themselves doing things and in a place that they said they would not allow themselves to get to.

I think if you are of a certain age group a few age groups actually where you had love for a boy band or the young hot pop singer and can remember the chaos of days in the past this speaks to you on that level. I think because of the authors ties to the entertainment world and being an actress herself she does an excellent job of presenting this relationship not just from the perspective of the fans good, bad and obsessed but of these two people and the ones that they love and care about who are at times victims to the price of fame.

At the heart of this book we have a love story that is deep and complex, we get to travel with these characters to various countries and see the experiences of how different cultures respond to and embrace fame. It was very well done and you genuinely feel for these people who are not allowed to block the world out and just love each other. It makes you really think about how easy it is for us to take for granted our privacy and freedom. As always, keeping it as spoiler free as possible so if you have not yet read this one I highly suggest that you do…now!!!
