From the author of The New York Times best-selling Marriage Games comes a deeply intense and sexy series.

Everything is going to be perfect.

Greyson comes home from deployment to live the life she and her husband Caden dreamed of. He has a surgical residency, and she has a psychiatric practice in the basement of their Manhattan brownstone.

Everything is going to be fine.

Caden loves his wife more than he can measure. But soon after she comes home, he starts hearing whispers. Someone else loves her. Someone else wants her. There’s someone else, and though whoever’s behind the whispers will move mountains to have her, Caden will move heaven and earth to keep her.

Everything is going to hell.

Greyson will never break her vows, even as their marriage snaps apart one piece at a time; even as the line between dreams and reality blurs. Even as Caden demands control, and Greyson cedes it, she will never, ever turn her back on him.

When their marriage crumbles, love becomes the one thing holding them together.

This audiobook contains the prequel Cutting Edge at the end. Though Cutting Edge is a prequel, it is best listened to after Rough Edge.

You’ve never experienced a romance like The Edge.

“I promised you a bed of rose petals.” He grabbed my hand under the table, tightening his grip as if he were falling from a precipice and our connection was the only thing saving him from certain death.

“They were beautiful.”

“You smell like apples. Roses were wrong.” There was nothing soft about his tone, but his quiet words were for me alone. “I want everything to be right for you.”

“Caden, look at me.”

I caught his gaze and held it. He was confident. Arrogant. Sure he had a place in the world. And under that was the man who needed me to be that place.

“If I could…” He smiled and shook his head at a silly thought he wanted to dismiss but couldn’t – a contradiction in keeping with the whole man I married. “If I could write my love in the sky, it wouldn’t be big enough. I’d run out of room. I’d fall out of the air trying to say it all.”

He was saying it all. Every day. And he was falling out of the sky to do it.

Well here I am again writing yet another review and not an entire year after my last one! WOW! I listened to the audio books of the prequel and the first two books of this series and I just HAD to write a review because this series is straight FIRE! So here we go…

I have always been a fan of C.D. Reiss from the first words I read in the Songs of Submission series. I gobble her books up just as fast as they drop to audio these days since I do not get to read a lot of ebooks anymore. That being said I have not been this excited for one of her series since I read SOS 5 years ago or so. All of her work is FANTASTIC! This series just has that raw yet realistic edge (no pun intended) that I remember SOS having. I am salivating and actually trying to figure out if I can find the time to read the e-book of book 3 since it is not yet available on Audible.

I will not go into the story too much because there are a ton of potential spoilers and as always C.D. Reiss does a wonderful job of building the back story and intertwining it with current day seamlessly so honestly if anyone drops a spoiler to this you should punch them in the eye. What I can say is that Greyson and Caden have a seriously complex relationship. They also have very complex pasts and Reiss works very hard to help you see who these people are before they met each other and who they are after building a life together as well as how they got to where they are now. The supporting characters are also interesting and bring an additional level of suspense to the table with all the secrets in the air. It was scorching hot and sexy and dirty at times which you expect from erotic fiction but the story is full, engaging and a serious page turner. NO PLOT HOLES HERE! If you are looking for a sexy read that is also psychological this is the series for you. This book also talks about military life and posttraumatic stress disorder in a way that I have not already read or seen in movies a million times.

I of course cannot neglect to comment on the narration of this awesome series done by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden. These two perform so well together. The opening scene of Rough Edge is volcanic between them going back and forth with each other. It really gives the book so much extra character and makes it almost feel like a movie playing out loud except you can still use your imagination to cast the hotties you envision as these characters. I’ve said it before and I will say it again if you have never listened to an audio book you cannot go wrong starting with C.D. Reiss. I have yet to feel like a performer did not fit the part or the character and I seriously hope that this series wins these two all the awards because they deserve it!
