A brand-new standalone novel in the New York Times bestselling Briar U series!

What I learned after last year’s distractions cost my hockey team our entire season? No more screwing up. No more screwing, period. As the new team captain, I need a new philosophy: hockey and school now, women later. Which means that I, Hunter Davenport, am officially going celibate…no matter how hard that makes things.

But there’s nothing in the rulebook that says I can’t be friends with a woman. And I won’t lie—my new classmate Demi Davis is one cool chick. Her smart mouth is hot as hell, and so is the rest of her, but the fact that she’s got a boyfriend eliminates the temptation to touch her.

Except three months into our friendship, Demi is single and looking for a rebound.

And she’s making a play for me.

Avoiding her is impossible. We’re paired up on a yearlong school project, but I’m confident I can resist her. We’d never work, anyway. Our backgrounds are too different, our goals aren’t aligned, and her parents hate my guts.

Hooking up is a very bad idea. Now I just have to convince my body—and my heart.

‘I promised myself I wouldn’t hook up this year, and the temptation to break that vow for Demi is overwhelming.’

Hunter Davenport has made a vow to be celibate this hockey season in hopes it will keep him focused and allow them to win this year. He knows it will be tough, but he’s confident he can make it. However, it’s harder than ever when women keep throwing themselves at him. Still, he sticks to his guns and manages to turn these women down. Enters Demi into his life. Hunter is assigned a project in his psych class where he is partnered with Demi and he is really attracted to her.

Demi Davis is in a serious relationship with her boyfriend of many many years. When she first meets Hunter, she doesn’t think very much of him. She thought he’d be a cocky jock that doesn’t take anything serious but be a total player. She’s surprised to learn how down to earth and funny he is. As the days go by that they work on their project, the closer they become and turn into really great friends.

“Promise me that this will never change.”
“That what will never change?”
“That you’ll never want to sleep with me.”
“I promise I will never want to sleep with you, Hunter.”

Hunter couldn’t be happier that Demi has a boyfriend because that takes away the temptation. That soon ends when Demi breaks up with her boyfriend after he breaks her heart. Now, Demi is ready to explore her single life and look for a rebound. The person she’s looking to hook up with is none other than Hunter.

‘We have so much fun together, no matter the circumstances. We could be studying or sitting in a jail cell or lying naked in bed, and he’d never fail to crack me up.’

I loved these two characters SO much. I had a huge grin while reading this book and all of their interactions. They just had such great chemistry and I really enjoyed their witty banter that had me laughing. They were just so cute and I loved every moment of their friendship as well as their romantic relationship. This was a great third book of this series. I loved Pablo Eggscobar. I absolutely enjoyed it. I also really liked seeing the characters of the previous books make an appearance. The ending was awesome! I definitely recommend this read, especially if you’re into books about friends to lovers like I am.
