From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne comes the second delightfully charming installment in the Central Park Pact series, following a young widow whose newfound cynicism about love is challenged by a sexy, rough-around-the-edges contractor.

There are no good men left in New York City. At least that’s Claire Hayes’s conviction after finding out her late husband was not the man she thought he was. Determined to rid her home of anything that reminds her of her cheating husband, Claire sets out to redesign her boring, beige Upper East Side brownstone and make it something all her own. But what starts out as a simple renovation becomes a lot more complicated when she meets her bad-tempered contractor Scott Turner.

Scott bluntly makes it known to Claire that he only took on her house for a change of pace from the corporate offices and swanky hotels he’s been building lately, and he doesn’t hesitate to add that he has no patience for a pampered, damaged princess with a penchant for pink. But when long workdays turn into even longer nights, their mutual wariness morphs into something more complicated—a grudging respect, and maybe even attraction…

I was enchanted with Book 1, Naomi/Oliver’s story but I completely fell in love with Claire/Scott‘s story in Love on Lexington Avenue.

Claire Hayes is the wife and widow of the d-bag whose specialty was sticking it into as many woman as he can find on a tiny island of Manhattan. After taking a thorough look at her bland and vanilla life to spice things up Claire decides to renovate her UES brownstone apartment (one of the two good things to come out of her marriage to the cheater. Second being her close friendship with the two women her deceased husband cheated on her with). On a recommendation of her new friend’s Naomi’s boyfriend she hires an unfiltered-mouthed contractor Scott Turner. Now sure who I fell in love with more Scott or his giant dog.

As Claire tries to reinvent herself while Scott is reinventing her house a romance blossoms. It’s not all roses and sweet words, if anything it is the opposite of that as Scott is a very rough guy on the outside. With him it really holds true that you should not judge a book by its cover. While the man looks fantastic in flannel he looks even yummier in a tux.

While both try to scratch that itch, they don’t even realize how perfect they are for each other until things come to a head. All that sassy, romantic, and sizzling chemistry is not just transient but may be something they both not necessarily want but definitely something they need to achieve their HEA.

Again, this was a fabulously quick page-turner read that delivered a solid story of enemies-to-lovers romance.
