Cross & Crown by Abigail Roux

Okay, I’m going to give Nick & Kelly 3.5 stars as well. After reading Ball & Chain I wasn’t sure what to expect here… I was hoping for the best though. This one took me awhile to get through, not as long as Ball & Chain but still. I didn’t mind the treasure hunting and the characters that joined them. However, I at times it felt like I was reading a history book… and I don’t know anyone who picks up an Abigail Roux book that is number two in a series that had one of the hottest most filthy good scenes in book one – expecting to get such a thorough history lesson. I’m sure if that’s your thing then this would be a 5 star read.
For me, I was getting bored a lot. If I have to skip pages of stuff then I’m not like some where I will still give you 5 stars for things I liked. (My biggest pet peeve about the BDB series) It did have some wonderful action in it and the mystery that they were trying to figure out was interesting. I did want to know who everyone really was, and what the heck actually went down, but it was a little too heavy on the education piece. Nick & Kelly were smooooooooooooking hot and that helped a great deal. Even that was rather tame. Yes, I want a good story when I read Abigail Roux, but I still want lots of heat too! I hope that with the direction they were planning to go in at the end of this one that the next book doesn’t have some similar issues. I’m also very interested to see how and when a certain visitor from another book will show up and when a character from this one will be needed to help. Sorry for the cryptics but I don’t do spoilers.
