They both lay still for a moment, panting. The power that had surrounded them so completely and violently now brushed against them in a feather light kiss on overheated skin.
With deliberate gentleness, Mikhail withdrew and stood up.
“What the hell was that?” Laurie gasped as she tried to stand on rubbery legs.
“Do I really have to explain it to you?” He teased. “Next time, I’ll go slower so you can follow along.”
“Shut up.” Laurie’s voice held no heat. “That’s not what I meant.” She didn’t bother to look for her ruined thong in the wreckage of the dining room. She pulled on her jeans and avoided his eyes.
“Balanced Elementals deal with their emotions in many ways, Laurie. One is by sex,” he said smoothly, adjusting his pants as if having impromptu sex on a sideboard was an everyday occurrence.
Laurie scowled. “So, you do this often, then?”
“Not often enough.” He smiled and gestured for her to precede him out of the dining room. Embarrassed and at a loss for words, Laurie nodded and moved to leave, suddenly wanting to get as far away from him, and the scene of their crime, as possible.
She walked passed him. Mikhail grabbed her arm. She turned, and he captured her mouth in a hungry kiss. She returned it, her tongue tangling with his. She tore open his shirt, buttons popping across the floor, determined this time to touch him the way he’d touched her.
“It’s happening again,” Laurie groaned into his mouth.
He broke the kiss and gave her a dangerous smile. “Miliya, we’re only just beginning.”
