A Stone in the Sea is the first book in the Bleeding Stars series. This is the story of Baz and Shea. Baz is hiding out in Savannah, Georgia with his band mates. I have to admit that this book was yet another reason why I wanted to visit Savannah & Tybee Island which is also in the area. If you haven’t been don’t let the fact that both Baz & his band as well as Shea ran to Savannah to escape the drama in their lives elsewhere. A.L. Jackson takes the time to paint a very accurate picture of the romantic surroundings, which also lent to the broody mood of Baz through out the first half of the book. Shea is a single mother trying to make a simple life for she and her daughter. When Shea and Baz meet it is obvious that they are attracted to one another. Baz finds himself frequenting the bar that Shea works at just to get another peek at her and when they finally do interact the sparks begin to fly clearly and quickly. Neither has any idea what they are doing with the other and though they are not maliciously hiding anything from each other the secrets that both of them are keeping will cause one of the grandest & most heart wrenching cliffhangers I have read to date. A Stone in the Sea is a book that will make you feel wonderfully happy and light at times. At others, it will pull at your heart strings and have you routing for these two and the love that they fall face first into. With a massive dose of hot passionate sex on the side, very thoughtful and well developed side characters and one little girl that will STEAL the show I cannot recommend this book any more highly and come the end of the year it may very well be at the top of my favorite books read. It has definitely been added to my special shelf of signed books at this time. Do yourself a favor and whether you prefer audio or e-books or paperbacks pick this one up today and READ it!!!
A Stone in the Sea was narrated by two of my most FAVORITE narrators ever… in life. Andi Arndt & Sebastian York. I don’t know how these two manage to consistently narrate books that I find myself giving 5 coffee beans too and wishing I could give more but they do and they do a wonderful job of it. You really feel like they understand the characters and deliver the text in a different way each book that they do, that is unique to that characters story. If you are unsure about audiobooks I absolutely recommend that you start with this one.
