Blurb v2

Ronan

I fell in love with a lie …

She was beauty and destruction.

Kissing her was a tender song.

Fucking her, a wild poem.

Loving her, my downfall.

But she was mine.

Or so I thought.

Lawrence

I told her I wanted her body

and not her love.

I lied.

Blaire

One man offered me his love.

The other, the world.

I’m falling, falling, falling …

And there’s no end in sight.

‘But you can only live a lie for so long before it smothers you, poisoning every word, every touch, and every kiss.’

When I read the Easy Virtue, I had real trouble liking Blaire. She drove me nuts with her actions and decisions, which I obviously did not agree with. But, what I think I disliked the most was how she hurt people. In the first book, you get to see Blaire change a bit as the book progressed, and this was because of Ronan. The focus in the first book was all about the relationship she had with him, and how that relationship made her want more. If you’ve read that book, then you know just how it ends. Blaire pushes Ronan away and it ends with a big cliffhanger.

“I’m jealous of every man who looks at you. I’m jealous of every man who’s touched you before me. I want you to be mine and only mine.”

Sweetest Venom continues exactly where the last one ended. In this book you get to take a look at the consequences Blaire’s decision caused in all their of lives. I didn’t care too much for Lawrence in the first book, but in this one he stole my heart completely. I loved that I finally got to see more deeply into the man he is, than the stoic persona he liked to portray. We get more of a focus on Blaire’s relationship with Lawrence this time around. Something I really loved and loathed at the same time. Why did I loathe it? Well because like I mentioned before, he stole my heart, just like Ronan did in the first book. This becomes a conundrum because how am I to choose between the both of them!? I mean really?? It was not a fun place to be while reading this book. I wanted the both of them, which I knew would just not happen, so Blaire was in for a difficult time.

In a lot of ways, Blaire was still a bit the same in certain scenes, but what I loved is that I finally understood why she did what she did. She puts up shield to protect herself by hurting others, which is the wrong thing to do, but I finally got why. We get more insight to Blaire’s childhood and why she turned out the way she did. She continued to hurt people in this book, but now she begins to feel guilt. Blaire’s growth in the book is what had me glued to the book. I wanted to see where she would finally end up in her life. I wanted to see if things would get better or worse for her, as well as Ronan. Ronan took an interesting turn in this book, one I wasn’t expecting and wasn’t too happy about initially. It was very painful too watch but it was great to see him get lost in Blaire’s world a little bit. I wanted to see if he could make it out back to the other side.

“Give me a thousand lives and a thousand eternities, and I would still find you and make you mine. Always.”

I definitely enjoyed this book a whole lot more than I did the first one. It was quite the journey and an emotional roller coaster. I never thought I would feel such pain and tear up as hard as I did while reading this book. I also didn’t think I would care and love these characters as much as I did. It was really just so wonderfully written. I am so happy I connected with each character individually, as I did with the relationships the men shared with Blaire. I had no idea which man Blaire would end up with, I mean there can only be one. That is why ending was so bittersweet for me. My heart broke and felt joy for Blaire’s HEA. I can only say is I wish the epilogue would have lasted a touch longer. But I was very happy with the conclusion. This was one of those stories that will be imprinted on your mind for quite some time. Overall, this was a really great read. It may not be for everyone, as you have to keep a very open mind when reading this one. But, it was worth all the pain to get to the ending. If you haven’t read this series, then you should give this one a try.
