I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager. He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.

Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.

I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.
That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.

Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.

We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.

A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.

But it’s just a harmless crush, right?

It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?

It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.

Right?

Wrong.

There are some authors who not only speak volumes to you but break you into in emoji and fan-girl squeals dialogues. Karina Halle is one of my very few authors who evokes such emotions out of me when I read. This book SPECIFICALLY threw me into happy tears… often! This book is not sad (sure it has got some sad real life moments) but what I’m talking about is that moment when all of a sudden you are reading and a stray tear just rolls down your left cheek, then another on your right and you are sitting like a fool on the train trying to pretend you are not crying during a busy commute rush hour. Thanks for that KH!

“Dream girl,” he whispers.

“Tell me I have your heart. I won’t let it go, not for any moment, not for any reason. Tell me I have your heart and I’ll keep it next to my own.”

This standalone goodness is about a journey of a 25-year-old single mother who is trying to get her life on track after making some questionable life choices. I totally sympathized with Jackie. She is a totally vulnerable, old soul who starts over with help of her parents after she has no choice. Her parents are cool… enough… I still have some grumbles about some of the things they do even if done with good intentions. However, I will forgive them as they put her right in the path of the slightly *cough* much *cough* silver-fox status (but not really he’s 41ish) old soul Will McAlister… seriously someone make me an old fashioned STAT!

Oooh my heart is completely given to Will…

Makes me mad that KH has made up this completely amazing human who DOES. NOT. EXIST!!! How is that even fair. He is a fantastic boss. Complete sweetheart. Loves and adopts pets. Basically, takes Jackie and her adorable shy kid under his wing. Pretty sure there were ZERO things I could say he did wrong in this book in my opinion. In fact, the only time I was frustrated was with Jackie. But girlfriend got herself in check real quick thankfully so I didn’t have to make my iPad sailing through the air in frustration.

“You have five seconds to get your gorgeous ass out of this office.”

“Or what? You’re going to fire me?”

“I’m going fuck you sideways,”

Also, can we talk about the H-O-T factor that is in this book. The chemistry and sexiness when you put the two of them together was so explosive… like a Samsung Note 7 lol. Overall, this book hit all my favorite tropes and I hope you will pick up your copy and love you some KH goodness.
