Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.

And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.

I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.

For every fake date…he wants a real one.

Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.

That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.

♥ ♥ ♥ 4 STARS ♥ ♥ ♥

Brenna Jensen is the daughter of Briar U’s hockey team coach. She’s come a long way in the short span of her life and has finally gotten her shit together. She is a strong, feisty and independent woman. She is working really hard towards getting her dream internship at a sports network. However, it’s proving to be hard to achieve no matter how confident she is in her skills. She tries hard to make herself stand out despite the sexism she is thrown at her constantly. This leads her to ask a huge favor from a person of the enemy hockey team. Brenna just hopes her school, friends, and father don’t find out.

Jake Connelly is the star player and Captain of Harvard’s hockey team rival of Briar’s. He can’t believe when the hottest and most forbidden girl he’s ever seen asks him to be her fake date. Jake is more than happy to help her out but with a catch, he wants real dates with her for every fake date they have. This girl quickly gets under his skin that he can’t wait to have more real dates with her.

She flicks up an eyebrow. “So why don’t you cut this bullshit about needing to find out, and just tell me what you really want.”

“Fine,” I answer, because I’m not one to back down from a challenge. “I want to kiss you.”

I loved the smoking hot chemistry between Brenna and Jake. I couldn’t get enough of their flirty and funny banter. The “keeping things under wraps” definitely added to the steam and let me tell you, the steam was HOT! These two characters just worked so well together as a couple that I couldn’t read fast enough. Brenna was such a great character, I admired her strength for sure and that she could give as good as she got. Jake was that sexy cocky guy you can’t help but melt for. Together they were explosive.

There were some serious topics brought up in this book that had my heart breaking. I really appreciated the moments of humour that the secondary characters brought to the story, so it wasn’t all sad and heavy. They were all so hilarious but I did want more Jake and Brenna time as well. There was also a bit of angst added to the mix that kept things interesting.

“I want to keep seeing you,” I press when she still hasn’t answered. “Do you want to keep seeing me?”

There’s another delay. Then she sighs. “Yes. I do.”

Overall, it was a really good read. It may not have been the best story wise for me but I LOVED the main characters so much. They were the best part of the book for sure. That alone is why I think you should definitely give this book a try. I really did enjoy their romantic moments in this book and I was glad to see in the epilogue a little bit of what happened in Brenna’s career. It did leave me wanting more of Jake though. I definitely needed more of him. But it’s all good because I am anticipating Hunter’s book which will hopefully be next. Keeping my fingers crossed.
