In a cold, empty castle, a young queen is dying.
Weak. Fragile. Disgraced.
But Queen Whitestone is not alone in her final days.
She has her beloved sister.
Until a wicked king rides onto her land.
Arrogant. Insufferable. Demanding.
King Bloodsun has come with an offer…peace in trade for a bride.
He wants the princess.
The fiery king won’t take no for an answer.
He vows to keep the cold queen captive until she gives in to his demands.
A queen bows for no one, though.
Not even when she’s frail and fading away.
She’ll tap into her strength, protecting the only family she has left.
The king is about to learn why they call her the cruel one…
It’s no secret that I love me some K. Freaking Webster. I didn’t think I could love her anymore than I already do, and then I read a paranormal/fantasy book by her and I’ve fallen even deeper under her spell. This book is part of the Sinister Fairytale series which features a bunch of different authors taking a swing at a classic fairytale we all know and love. Cold Queen was a twist on Frozen.
Ryke was beyond a doubt one of the hottest (literally and figuratively ) hero’s I’ve had the pleasure to meet and make my book boyfriend. He was fierce, strong, handsome, mean, yet oh so sweet to the cruel queen. From the moment he stormed into her frozen castle and met the beautiful yet frail dying Queen, Ryke knew that he had to have her, and her cold heart. Little by little he slowly thawed her heart and warmed her bed, till she was his completely.
Elzira lives for one person and one person alone, her sister. The love she had for her sister is what kept her alive so she could continue to watch out for her and take care of her. Everything Elzira has done since she became Queen at a young age was for her sister. Not a lot can warm the Queens frosty heart, but for her sister it beats strong… until a handsome fiery king comes to see her to negotiate a marriage proposal.
I loved seeing how the author took a popular fairy tale and made it her own. It was such a wonderful story, and I pray we get more from from these characters down the road. There is definitely room for a series in this book. I highly recommend this book to all you happily ever afters out there, you won’t be disappointed!!
