The more lines they cross, the deeper they get…
Top cadet Lana Marsden lives by the rules. The most important rule of all: no messing around with an officer. She learned that one the hard way.
Now her only desire is to survive the grueling DEEP Training program and leave that scandalous past behind.
When she reports to Station Six amid wild rumors of erotic hazing rituals and sadomasochistic games, she’s not prepared for any of the rumors to be true—or for her insatiable attraction to Sergeant “Catch” Durant, her tattooed rebel of a trainer.
One touch from Catch, and Lana knows she’s in trouble. One night of white-hot ecstasy, and the rules melt away.
Catch knows sweet, sexy Lana is forbidden. She’s his trainee, and her overprotective brother is his best friend. But one taste and Catch knows the last woman he’s supposed to touch will be the one to bring him to his knees. Which is exactly where he wants to be…
A cadet with a secret.
An officer with a secret kink.
A whole lot of rules to be broken.
DEEP is the first full-length novel in the DEEP Series. Contains hot men (and women) in uniform, a violated Code of Conduct, and ice cream. Intended for adult readers, 18+.
When I first read about this book I had no idea it was set in the future. How cool is that!! It’s been a while since I have read any sci-fi type of book and it was really entertaining. I. The beginning you are given a lot of background story and information to get you caught up to the times they are in. And the DEEP program. Lana is just starting her rounds in the DEEP and she is determined to complete the program so she can be launched into deep space and start completing missions.
The DEEP program is kinda like being a part of the police academy in a way. Lana is a cadet and she must complete a series of missions and some grueling physical challenges. You are broken down and built back up. Not everyone is cut out for DEEP space and this is their way of seeing who is strong enough to withstand the pressure and silence that you can only experience when in Space. Lana has always dreamed and strived to be a part of the DEEP program and has worked hard to prove herself worthy. Lana wants to be as far away from planet earth and her parents as she can. And what’s further away then space? Her thoughts exactly. However, much like everything we work so hard for, when we finally obtain it, it’s not always as shiny and “green” as we may have thought it was.
Lana never thought she would find anything she wants as much as being part of DEEP program, until she meets her program trainer, Sergeant “Catch” Durant. Catch is drop dead gorgeous and a strong, silent type. There is only one rule in the DEEP program, no hooking up with those that rank higher than you. But like any rules set in place, they are meant to be broken. The attraction between Lana and Catch is strong and intense, try as they might they just can’t seem to fight it, no matter how hard Catch tries. You see not only is Catch Lana’s trainer he is also her brother’s best friend. A very protective only brother who is also aboard their ship.
I really loved the build up between Catch and Lana. Catch wants her but knows that’s a very bad thing to want. Not only because of the rules but because Catch is not looking to get involved with anyone. He is still dealing with the fall out from his last relationship. The author is very clever with that story line because you only get bits and pieces, you never really find out what happens between Catch and his ex. You know it’s not anything positive though. Catch has a hard time letting go of his past and by the time he does, it may be too late. The story ends in a way that leaves you swiping your kindle to the right in hopes that you find a few lost pages to keep the story going. It was just that good guys.
I can not wait to continue the story of Lana and Catch, and I hope we get more from some of the secondary characters as well. There is this awesome storyline between Lana’s brother and her friend Scarlett that I’m just dying to find it more about. I recommend this series to anyone who’s ever wondered what forbidden nookie in deep space feels like.
