Title: The Darkest star
author: jennifer l. armentrout
narrator(s): saskia maarleveld
rating: 5 Beans
synopsis:

In the world of the Lux, secrets thrive, lies shatter, and love is undeniable.

Number-one New York Times, USA Today, and internationally best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout brings her trademark drama and intrigue to a new romantic YA science-fiction series with The Darkest Star.

A girl pulled into in a world she doesn’t understand finds herself confronted by long-buried secrets, a betrayal that could tear her life apart…and Armentrout’s most swoonworthy audiobook boyfriend yet.

Seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher knows firsthand the devastating consequences of humanity’s war with the aliens. When she’s caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen…but is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she’d only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head….

my impression: i really enjoyed travelling back to the world of the luxen in this book. I literally felt like i was picking up obsidian again in all the good ways with a fresh new story that had lots of great twists and turns. this is definitely armentrout’s wheel house and i’m so happy that she is taking us here!!! my only criticism is that i need the next book now!

Title: Complete submission: the complete series boxed set
author: cD Reiss
narrator(s): jo raylan & christian Fox
rating: 5 beans
synopsis:

The complete USA Today best-selling series and Audie Award nominee.

Jonathan Drazen. Gorgeous. Charming. Smart. Rich. All the ingredients for a few nights of mind-blowing pleasure are right there. He’s made it perfectly clear he can’t love me, and I’m not out to fall in love, either.

But I can’t stay away from him. He’s got this bossy way about him in bed. The word Sir falls from my lips, and when he tells me to get on my knees…well, my knees have a mind of their own.

I got this. I can be his slave for a few nights and walk away unscathed. We get in. Get it on. Get the hell out. Done.

He knows the line between love and lust. It’s right between my legs. Now, let’s see if that line blurs for me.

This bundle includes: Submission, Domination, and Connection

my impression: i consider this series one of my all time favorite reads. I have not listened to the entire series before so this was a first time for me. A great deal of really amazing books came out around the same time that this series did, based on bdsm elements, usually some danger and a really hot, rich and alpha leading man. This however unlike some of those was one of the best i read originally and still stands the test of time. the narrators do an amazing job with this and even if you’ve read the series I highly recommend a listen to it as well!

Title: repeat(audible original)
author: kylie scott
narrator(s): andi arndt
rating: 4 beans
synopsis:

From Audie Award winning, New York Times best-selling author Kylie Scott comes an irresistible new romance – available in audio first!

When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she’s forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did – which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.

Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can’t seem to let her go again.

Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance?

my impression: As always the narration was excellent! Andi Arndt is really one of the best and if you haven’t done an audio but want to make this audible original your first you will not be disappointed with her performance. this was a good story with some predictability at times. it had some really super hot scenes with the tattoo artist male lead. there were also lots of aww inducing moments as well. a good well rounded story.

Title: summoned to the thirteenth grave: Charley davidson,13
author: Darynda Jones
narrator(s): lorelei king
rating: 5 beans
synopsis:

Grim Reaper Charley Davidson is back in the final installment of Darynda Jones’ New York Times best-selling paranormal series!

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, is pissed. She’s been kicked off the earthly plane for eternity – which is the appropriate amount of time to make a person stark-raving mad. But someone’s looking out for her, and she’s allowed to return after a mere hundred years in exile. Is it too much to hope for that not much has changed? Apparently it is. Bummer.

She’s missed her daughter, she’s missed Reyes and Beep, but now that she’s back on earth, it’s time to put to rest burning questions that need answers. What happened to her mother? How did she really die? Who killed her? And are cupcakes or coffee the best medicine? It all comes to a head in an epic showdown between good and evil in this final smart and hilarious audiobook.

my impression: this was an excellent conclusion to one of the most interesting, humorous, thrilling and at times heartbreaking series that i have ever had the pleasure to read. i’ve done this entire series as audible books and have been greatly thankful for the simultaneous release of the book and the audiobook for the bulk of this series! lorelei king brings these characters to life in such an amazing way! i will always equate her voice with charley davidson. we get some smoking hot scenes, we get answers to a lot of questions and there are some great twists thrown into this last book as well. no spoilers, but i will say that i did feel myself wanting more for charley and her fam at the end. I also wonder will there be some sort of spinoff?!?!?
