Dollars is the second installment of the Dollar Series. This one had a bit of a slower pace and it was less dark in tone when compared to the previous book. However, it was still a very emotional one.
The story starts off exactly where the last one ended. If you have read the first book then you know how it ended. Elder has taken Pimlico from her now dead Master. He wants to own her, but differently to how Master A did. He wants to know the real her, the one before she became a slave.

I’ve got to say that I loved learning a bit more about who Elder is and why he is the way he is. He was a complete enigma in the first book. Now, we get to learn a little more about the man who is so utterly intrigued by Pimlico. No matter how evil and bad he sees himself, there is also some heart and good in him, too that he refuses to acknowledge.
Pimlico was a little bit frustrating in this book, but her recovery can’t occur overnight which was totally understandable. That did stop me from wanting to pull my hair out like Elder. I did appreciate that it took awhile, though, even though if in those moments I didn’t. It just made it more believable for me. I loved watching Pimlico slowly grow and become a woman, slowly leaving behind the slave she had been trained to be.

I really enjoyed the slow burn between Elder and Pimlico. I liked that they got to know each other more which formed a relationship of sorts between them. Elder plays a role in Pim’s slow recovery. She still has a long way to go but it was interesting to read it happen–bless Elder for his patience. What Elder wasn’t ready for was that by helping Pimlico face her demons, she would do the same for him. Again, it was quite interesting to read.
I cannot wait to see what is next for these characters. There are still so many questions that need to be answered. So much more growth to see in Pimlico. And after the way this book ended, I am more curious than ever. Overall, I found it to be a bit on the slow side at the start but it did pick up near the end. It was a very enjoyable read and look forward to continuing the series. I can’t wait!
